PrFEcT Searches
- Domain (Database) Search
You can use EcoliHub Web Search to search only within specific domains (i.e. database) by entering the search terms you're looking for and selecting your preferences from the list of databases in the left sidebar of the page.
Your preferences will be stored using cookies and your further searches will be done against the same.
NOTE: If you delete EcoliHub Web Search cookies - your preferences will be also deleted along with it.
- Choosing Search Terms
Choosing the right search terms is the key to finding the information you need.
Start with the obvious -- if you're looking for general information on phoB, try phoB.
But it's often advisable to use multiple search terms; if you're trying to find phob transcription, you'll do better with phob transcription than with either phob or transcription by themselves.
- Capitalization
- AutomaticBy default, EcoliHub Web Search only returns pages that include all of your search terms. There is no need to include "and" between terms. Keep in mind that the order in which the terms are typed will affect the search results. To restrict a search further, just include more terms.
- Negative terms
If your search term has more than one meaning you can focus your search by putting a minus sign ("-") in front of words related to the meaning you want to avoid.
Note: when you include a negative term in your search, be sure to include a space before the minus sign.
- What is Websearch?
EcoliHub Websearch searches a growing array of E. coli related websites using a webpage index created at EcoliHub. This is similar to Google's indexing of the entire web, but, since it is limited to only E. coli related sites, fewer spurious results should be returned. Many of the sites available through EcoliHub Websearch do not provide their own search mechanisms.
